FLORAL ON MY LEGS

PATTERNED DENIMMy styles been leaning towards fashion-forward bottoms and plain tops these days. I typically first get dressed by pulling out a particular item I want to wear (my floral pants in this example) and then work my way around that item. I find it easier to incrementally pull the pieces together rather than collectively trying to put together an outfit. I'm the type thats always on-the-go so the last I want to do is spend much time figuring out what to wear, and I found that working around a bottom is much easier than working around a top.

STEP INTO THE HOME OF...

NINA GARCIA
Living room. Furnishings from BAC, painting by Ronald Albert Martin made of gouache and ink

Other half of living room. Henningsen sofa and Andre Sornay armchairs

Dressing table. Frank desk and lamp, triptych mirror originally owned by Geoffrey Beene
Master bedroom. Prints by Cindi Johnson, Emilio Terry design bench and BAC custom-made bed

Closet. Frank chaise and tripod table.
Shoe closet. Bespoke shoe storage. Wish I had a shoe closet like this!
For those that don't know Nina Garcia is the fashion editor of Marie Claire magazine and also a judge on Project Runway (one of my favorite shows). I came across her apartment and thought, wow what great inspiration. Love the clean, modern feel and use of light colors. Amazing how choice of colors and furniture can help open up the space. I've also always been a fan of minimalistic decor with use of pillows, artwork, plants and lighting fixtures and Nina Garcia has it down. Would love to live in an apartment like this.

KNITS OF COMFORT

FINALLY FALL

It's finally been starting to feel more like Fall over here in Northern California. Although the weather has been acting bipolar lately (raining in the morning, then bright rays of sunlight in the afternoon), scarfs have always been my quick remedy for additional warmth. This extra long scarf in particular is perfect because the additional length lets me wrap it around myself 3x if needed. Whats your go-to when the cold comes in? A hot drink, a blanket, a nice thick jacket, or something else?

PLEATS OF LEATHER

RAYS OF FOLDS
One of my highlights during my visit to Seattle was visiting the Seattle Public Library. I was blown away by the architectural elements and details incorporated into the design of the library. It felt more like a museum than an actual library. Although you can't tell in my photos, the library consists of 11 floors, the exterior is made of glass and steel, and the interior (which is amazing) consists of yellow stairs, a "red floor" (literally), and an atrium which every library should have.  Check out more photos here if interested.

AIRY TWIRLS

BIRTHDAY HABIT
It was my birthday this past Saturday so my whole weekend was occupied with celebratory events. Friday night had dinner at this amazing restaurant Michael Mina, Saturday went to Napa county on a party bus (which is a whole other story in itself), and Sunday had bottomless mimosa brunch with some girlfriends. I've been waiting for the right occasion to wear this dress and figured my birthday would be appropriate.
The necklace I'm wearing is courtesy of peaceloveflair. I recently partnered up with them and will be doing my first giveaway with them soon. I love accessories and absolutely love all the pieces in their collection so am really excited to give all you readers a chance to win something of theirs. Check back tomorrow for giveaway details!

MAXI IN FALL

DOTS AND FRILLS
One thing I always attempt to do with all my clothes is make them as versatile as possible. Meaning translating summer pieces to fall (such as wearing nylons with shorts), fall pieces to winter (layering) and even winter pieces to spring (chunky sweaters over shorts/skirts). Sounds simple right? This maxi skirt has particularly been worn with cropped camis in the past but with Fall preluding, I figured pairing it with a tank and leather jacket would be a good way to disguise this once summer maxi skirt.

HIGH WAISTED AND CROPPED

TRANSITIONING INTO FALL
I've been in Seattle this past weekend to visit my friend Mandy, aka my main blogger photographer. To prepare for the temperamental Seattle weather I brought some summer clothes (since the weatherman predicted it to be 70f') but also some fall basics and accessories just in case the unpredictable weather kicked in. We went to Pike Place Market the first day and decided to stop by and snap some shots in the alley of the gum wall.
