PLAID BOTTOMS

& A BIRDED TOP
F21 blouse, AE scarf (similar here & here), H&M trousers (similar here & here), Zara heels, Rebecca Minkoff mac mini clutch
I've been obsessed with plaid lately and have especially been obsessed with all things hunter green. The mix of both help give off that preppy vibe that other plaid colors can't readily do. It's also been seasonly appropriate with the holidays approaching. Thus, right when I saw these pants on the rack, I knew they had to belong in my closet. Does that ever happen to you too? You find something and know you just have to have it? I don't know if its just me and my shopping obsession, but I feel like that happens to me way too often haha.

ELIZABETH & JAMES FALL '13 LOOKBOOK

WORTH THE BASICS
shop the collection here via shopbop
Having those perfect wardrobe basics is a necessity for fall. Basics serve as your go-to's for those simple wardrobe days, and also become your layering saviours when attempting to keep stylishly warm. I have always been a fan of Elizabeth & James for their more "lady-like" silk pieces, but their Fall basics from their TEXTILE collection is nothing but pure bliss. Casual pieces worth the splurge.

WAISTED PLAID

90'S GRUNGE WITH LEATHER
J.Crew flannel (similar here & here), H&M leather skirt (similar here), Foreign Exchange tank (similar here),
3.1 Phillip Lim mini pashli, Brandy Melville necklaces, Marc Jacobs watch, Zara heels (similar here)
I've been really diggin plaid lately, and have especially been lusting over the whole 90's comeback of the shirt tied around the waist style. I remember being in middle school when this trend was pivotal, to the point where I was buying long-waisted shirts for the sole purpose of just tying it around my waist. Seems kinda of a waste now that I think about it... (no pun intended). My shopping habits since then have progressed into buying pieces meant for diversification, so thankfully this shirt can serve more than one purpose than just serving as a behind coverup.

PINK BLUSH

& SOME THIN LEATHER
I'm not typically a fan of the color pink but this muted pink blush with a touch of thin leather straps spoke my fashion lingo in a purposeful way. My schedule recently has gotten so hectic where I'm always on-the-go from one place to another that my sense of style has transformed more into convertible wear these days. In the short period of time that I've owned this top, I've already worn it out (with a leather skirt), at work (paired with a blazer and dark skinny jeans), and for a day out in the sun. Easy to style, ability to cater for multiple wardrobe functions, and also quite comfortable makes me now a fan of blush pink pink.

POP OF NEON COMFORT

OVER BLACK AND WHITE

These were taken last Saturday right before spontaneously going to Outside Lands. I originally bought these Nike Frees in attempts to motivate me to do more cross fitness and weight related work-outs (I've always been more of a cardio girl) but surprisingly I've been finding myself dressing more "down" lately just so I have an excuse to wear these outside the gym. Wearing heeled shoes have become such a normal part of my wardrobe regime that anytime I wear flat (yet alone athletic) shoes I seriously feel like I can tackle on anything. These frees really did make me feel free especially during Outside Lands where I found myself constantly jumping and prancing around. What are your some of your go-to comfort shoes?

JAY AHR 2014 LOOKBOOK

RESORT COLLECTION
I've never heard of Jay Ahr before until now but I am in love with his collection. Minimalistic at its prime, nothing but a neutral color palette, and fluted skirts with textures so interesting all you need is a basic top for pure compatibility. Effortless chic with a touch of edge is what I like to call it. Click here to view more of my favorites from his 2014 collection.

LAST WEEK BELLINIS

DAYWEAR TO NIGHTWEAR
Pins and Needles crop top, H&M jacket (similar here & here), American Apparel skirt, Alexander Wang rocco handbag,
Dogeared necklaces, Urban Outfitters sunglasses
These were all taken last Saturday from my iPhone5. The day was spent at Stock in Trade where me and 2 girlfriends decided to get bottomless bellinis, which then turned into an unexpected bar crawl, which ended up at a night at the club. Exhausting and spontaneous day indeed. While I was unprepared for the day long festivity, fortunately my quite comfortable outfit (can never go wrong with a high-waisted stretchy skirt) made it feasibly viable to last all day. This summer has thus far been filled with many memorable adventures and dressing appropriately for all occasions has definitely helped contribute to these fun-filled moments.

PATTERNED SIMPLICITY

& COLORBLOCKED
Gap chambray shirt (similar here & here)Free People camisole, American Apparel skirt (similar here & here),
vintage Gucci handbag, Report heels, layered necklaces from Dogeared and Aldo
I took these over my 4-day weekend right before hitting up the shops with my dear friend Bonnie. While nothing I'm wearing in this photo is new, I've been really appreciating the articles in my closet that I can just pull and pair together with anything to assemble different looks together. In example this chambray shirt (also worn here) has been able to occupy my chest either buttoned-up, opened-up, tied, tucked in, and etc. While I don't prefer one way more than the other, it's nice to have the option of versatility dependent on your style mood.

HIGH-LOW CORAL

SUMMER BRIGHTS
Dress c/o Red Stripes Boutique, Aldo Heels (old but similar here & here) , Michael Kors watch, Bracelet c/o Classicloot
I typically don't wear summer dresses like this (I try to avoid low v-necks since they're not particularly flattering on me) but the bright coral color instantly gravitated me towards this dress. The hot coral also seems to do just the trick to brighten up any wardrobe and declare that summer is officially here. I've been attempting to enjoy my summer to its full potential by taking advantage of my free-time before things get crazy, so dressing the part definitely helps in serving as a healthy reminder to enjoy those carefree summer days!

I've always been obsessed with bridging the gap between exterior and interior space in order to fuse in more natural lighting and elements into a home. These inspirational photos I came across seem to do just that in the the most modern and seamless way possible. While I personally am relatively lazy when it comes to exterior maintenance, I can't help but hope that one day I'll be able to own a space where I can enjoy and mimic the feeling of being outdoors while being completely indoors.

BOTTOMS UP IN FLORAL

CASUAL CLASS
I've become more obsessed with finding staple "bottoms" rather than staple tops lately and these pants are a prime example of what I'd call, a summer staple piece. One thing that I've also consistently noticed is that these pants have never failed to transform my outfit to a more classy look, even if the purpose is unintended. Worn with a blouse for work, a tank for a night out, and even with a simple white cotton-tee for a casual summer day, these pants seem to have that magical ability to boost any outfit to simple sophistication.

COME CATCH ME AT

LOS GATOS WITH RED STRIPES BOUTIQUE
My favorite all-time season has always been summer. There's something about the Cali heat mixed with easy summer dressing, outdoor hobbies, an increase in melatonin and longer days that has always attracted me to summer. I especially love summer though for the variability of outfits I get to wear ranging from dresses, shorts, skirts... basically anything that shows legs haha.

For those around my area (the bay area, California) me and a few other local bloggers teamed up with Red Stripes Boutique to showcase a "Summer Essentials" event over at Los Gatos Bar & Grill this Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 4-6PM.
Come by and say hi, I'd love to meet you! :) (more details below)

OVERALLS OVER TEXTURE

CHILDISH PLAY
I bought these kids sized overalls last summer at H&M (mistakingly found them in the adults room fitting room rack- first worn here) and at that time had no idea how trending overalls would be in 2013. I used to love wearing overalls as a kid, and every time I slip into these I always become reminiscent of my past childhood. I was a pretty adventurous and troublesome kid growing up, and I can't help but become eager to get a bit rambunctious every time I have these on. I think it's safe to say, these overalls will only come out on weekends.

SEE-THRU LACE

ON A HOT SUMMER DAY
Sometimes I have the most difficult time figuring out what to wear under sheer clothes. Camis can take away from the "sheer" vibe by blending in too much, while bralettes are only appropriate in certain occasions. While I'm still attempting to figure out the perfect balanced undertone piece, I figured this crochet bralette would be forgiving to wear especially in the hot summer heat. This weekend, was one of the most relaxing weekends I've had in months and the heat definitely made it easy for me to "get away" for having a much needed lazy weekend.

EASY BREEZY

IN SILKY PRINTS
I seriously can't believe it's been more than a whole month since I've last blogged. May has been a crazy month for me with grad school finals, work, a trip to Vegas and also LA. Although the lack of sleep has been creeping up on me, it's hard to complain about sleepless nights when your days are full of worthwhile and meaningful adventures. I'm a firm believer of working hard while living life to your full potential and once heard a quote "everyday do something that will inch you towards a better tomorrow". Living life to this motto daily has caused some great things to unfold in life. Anyone else have daily quotes they aspire to live by?

FRESH OFF THE NEUTRAL

AND A SPLASH OF RED
It's finally been feeling like summer this week causing the perspiration to kick in (gross I know but truth be told). Thus, the first thing I've been doing after work this whole week is changing into something more comfortable and cool. I bought these suede shorts two summers ago (worn here) and almost forgot how accommodating they are in regards to slightly dressing up a casual look in a simple and modern way. Nudes ability to pair nicely with almost everything and anything has also enabled me to hold onto these babies in my closet. I've been going through a massive closet cleaning frenzy lately so am definitely glad I held onto these.

DISTRESSED & COATED

FALL DRESSING IN SPRING
Although I'm one that enjoys the heat much more so than the cold, I have to say I do love layering and staying cozy when I can. Thankfully, my versatile circle scarf and now favorite Zara coat has made it more feasible for me to stay comfortable despite the drop in temperature. I've been attempting to steer my shopping tendencies into buying more investment pieces (pieces I'll get more wear and tear from frequent wear) and this coat definitely was a good "investment" purchase decision.

SPRING HAVEN

BRIGHTS AND WOOD
I took these last week with my dear friend Mandy during her short visit back home. My hectic schedule has really made me appreciate the few times I have for myself and are able to spend with quality friends. Thankfully since the sun goes down much later now, it provides ample amount of time for me to come home from work and enjoy the few hours of sun left in the day before hopping on school related meetings. I love spring and summer for the benefit of our days feeling much longer. What do you love most about spring?

CASUAL EDGE

DENIM AND LEATHER
Wearing some of my favorite staple pieces in my wardrobe. An oversized racerback tank, denim jacket and of course my go-to leather pants (also worn here & here). Sometimes it amazes me how I can get so much wear and versatility from certain articles of clothing compared to other articles of clothing in my closet. While this tank top definitely aint appropriate for the workplace, the loose feel and color keeps drawing me in, transitioning it to have become one of my favorite tank tops. What are some of your favorite go-to pieces in your wardrobe?

THE HYBRID SCARF

BY POSH'MINA
I'm always trying to find new innovative ways to wear a scarf and with Spring coming in it was perfect timing that the Posh'mina got introduced into my wardrobe. While scarfs have traditionally been worn around the neck for extra layers of warmth throughout fall and winter, the Posh'mina is versatile enough to be incorporated into your wardrobe all year long. The slotted sleeves in particular make it especially convenient to wear as a wrap or cardigan if desired. Although I'm not attending Coachella this year, Coachella would have served to be the perfect occasion to wear a hybrid scarf. Tip for all you Coachella go'ers this year. ;)

DENIM OVER PEPLUM

DAY TO NIGHT WEARI've been incredibly busy these past few weeks juggling full-time work with full-time school that it's become more of a luxury to squeeze time in my schedule for a blog shoot. Thus, this Saturday was the first time in a while where I actually had 2 hours of down time during the day. Right before dinner at Absinthe, me and Jason decided to stroll around the Conservatory of Flowers to take advantage of the gorgeous weather that's been landscaping all over the bay. This outfit ended up being the perfect transition from a dinner date outfit to a nightlife festivity outfit, and this denim jacket has seemingly become my favorite "dress-me-down" piece in my closet.

WEEKEND MAXI

NEON SHEER
I've only worn this maxi skirt once (for my birthday this past October) and since then it's been sitting in my closet. I always feel a ping of guilt anytime I purchase something that I've only used or worn once. Thus, seeing how the weather has been starting to warm up, I decided to eliminate this feeling of guilt and took my maxi skirt out for a spin this past Saturday. Although I didn't do much but errands and school assignments, one which consisted of street intercept interviews (which is a whole other story in itself) I have to say, it was reassuring knowing I was making more use of this once called birthday maxi skirt.

BASICS AND A CAPE COAT

A DAY IN CARMEL
This past Sunday was spent in beautiful Monterey and Carmel. I haven't visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium in years, can't even remember when I last went actually, so it was fun visiting and seeing some friendly sea creatures. The jellyfishes in particular were so intriguing to watch; such delicate creatures with fluid movements supporting their intricate anatomy. After visiting the aquarium me and Jason strolled around downtown Carmel and although we didn't do any shopping (I've been on a shopping diet lately) we ended up stopping behind a pretty building to take snap some photos.
