6 HOURS IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

Wearing Ships Ginza top,  Chloe faye suede & leather shoulder bag, J.Brand jeans, Illesteva sunglasses, Madewell belt, and Vince Camuto heels.

I work full-time at CreativeLive as a Site Merchandising Manager and took a short Thurs-Sat trip to the Seattle office to attend meetings and train new employees. Most of my days were spent at the office but on Saturday I had 6 hours of free time to explore Seattle. To maximize my time and take advantage of the sunny weather (it was raining the previous 2-days), I woke up at 8 AM and prioritized the top things I wanted to do: visit Olympic Sculpture Park, Pike Place Market, eat or drink something unique to Seattle, and snap blog photos in between. It worked out favorably since they were close to each other. If you’re planning a trip to Seattle and wondering what to do, below are my top recommendations.

  • Places to Get Food and Drinks in Seattle:
    • Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room: I ordered the cold brew malt and it was delicious and refreshing. The interior of this place is also super cool and a great place to lounge and socialize.
    • Rachel’s Ginger Beer: comes in so many flavors and located inside Pike Place Market. I was very satisfied with my cucumber + tarragon ginger beer.
    • Restaurants by chef Renee Erickson or Ethan Stowell. I had dinner at Anchovies & Olives and everything was delicious. I also appreciated the formal yet hip ambiance of the restaurant.
    • Pike Place Chowder: the line was too long so I didn’t get any, but I had it before and remember it being super fresh and creamy.
  • Great Places to Explore and Take Photos in Seattle for Free:
    • Olympic Sculpture Park: I love art and any chance to visit free outdoor exhibitions so highly enjoyed this. It’s also along Elliot Bay so has an amazing view.
    • Pike Place Market: while one can spend hours here, my favorite thing to do at Pike Place Market is to buy fresh flowers from the local florists. I also recommend checking out the gum wall (although I personally find it gross).
    • Pioneer Square: used to be the heart of the city and always has free, fun attractions. It’s also full of history and romanesque revival architecture making it a great sight to see.
    • Seattle Public Library: I went here the first time I visited Seattle in 2012 and fell in love. It’s an architectural gem and the most unique and breathtaking library I’ve ever been to. Definitely, a must-do if you’re into design.
    • Gasworks Park: You can see the entire view of the city and skyline here. Highly recommend going here if you’re into landscape photography.
