DESERT HOT SPRINGS GETAWAY

Wearing Asos bathing suit (similar here and bikini version here), and Balenciaga sunglasses.

I turned 30 this month and to celebrate mine and my two best friend’s birthdays (we’re all Libra’s), we took a girls trip down to Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs. I found this amazing Hilltop Desert Estate Airbnb and while Airbnb’s can be a hit or miss, this house was exactly how it was pictured. We had a fabulous time lounging at the house and just chilling at the infinity pool since it was over 90°F. My only regret was not having more time to relax by the pool. For those traveling and considering booking through Airbnb below are some tips for finding a great stay for your travel plans:

3 Airbnb Tips to Know Before Booking:

  • Read at least 5 reviews: I always read the first 5 reviews (and even more) to watchlout for red flags before booking. When I first started using Airbnb I’d look at the overall ratings and skip reading the actual reviews. Don’t do this, as the most honest and useful information are in the actual reviews. Host’s never point out the negatives of staying at a property (such as bad wifi, or the journey to get to the property), so the reviews is where you’ll discover the most helpful information you won’t find advertised by the host on the listing.
  • Bedroom, Bed, to Bathroom Ratio: Keep in mind how many people are staying, the number of beds, the type of beds, and the number of bathrooms. My tried and true logic is the 3:1 person to bathroom ratio. So for example, if there are 9 people the property should have 3 bathrooms. I’ve found this to be the most comfortable for all guests. Also, read what types of beds there are. A listing can claim they have 4 beds, but what if they’re 4 twin sized beds or 2 bunk-beds? When booking homes, I calculate the number of people and how many people each bed can comfortably sleep.
  • Compare between Airbnb & VRBO: A lot of the same properties are listed on Airbnb and VRBO. If you want to make sure you’re getting the best deal, search for the same house on its competitor site. I’ve found the exact same house for a couple hundred bucks cheaper on VRBO than on Airbnb, so it’s worth the extra 5 minutes to check.
